This sweatshirt features two of the symbols of Kyiv. In the center is the iconic Independence Monument on Maidan Nezalezhnosti, one of Kyiv’s central squares and the symbol of Ukrainian resistance.
This is the place where multiple historic political protests happened, including the EuroMaidan Revolution that led to the ousting of pro-Russian president Viktor Yanukovych.
The monument is surrounded by chestnut leaves, another symbol of the city.
In the foreground are anti-tank obstacles, colloquially known as “hedgehogs,” which are a more recent addition to Kyiv, popping up all over the city since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion.

Story behind the illustration
Maidan Nezalezhnosti (or “Independence Square” in English) has been the center of three revolutions in modern Ukrainian history and the country’s struggle to break away from Russia’s control: the 2013-2014 EuroMaidan Revolution, the 2004 Orange Revolution, and the 1990 Revolution on Granite. Chestnut trees are also a symbol of Kyiv, lining the city’s avenues since the 19th century.
